It is my pleasure to review this product. As its name implies, it is one device that serves the purpose of four:
- Dual Alarm Clock with snooze and battery back-up
- Bluetooth Speaker
- Star Light Projector
- White noise and soothing music generator
It comes with a remote control, 120 VAC adapter, a base/stand, and a 100 cm (3.3”) cord with a USB charger that connects the adapter with the unit itself. All functions can be launched, and all adjustments made either on the unit itself or via the remote. The unit itself is approximately 4.5” in diameter and it sits only 6” off the table when placed on the stand – a perfect size! The stand is quite versatile, as it permits placement at various angles. Thus, it can accommodate any desired angle of projection. This came in handy in my master bedroom, which has a vaulted ceiling.
The galaxy projector has 6 colors, 6 patterns and 4 brightness settings. The digital clock is a fluorescent white/blue, and it has 3 brightness settings. The display can also be turned completely off. The audio portion has a total of 14 built-in sounds: 8 white noise and 6 soft music. You can also connect your own sound input via a one-click Bluetooth connection – a great way to listen to your favorite music. The lights will also flash with the music – your kids and teens will love it!
The projected stars are green, and the clouds move slowly/blissfully. The 6 available cloud colors are green, blue, green/blue, red, red/green, and violet/red, and the 6 patterns are stars/clouds/moon, stars/clouds, clouds/moon, stars/moon, moon only and stars only.
The 8 white noise sounds are white noise, waves crashing on shore, train, cricket, bonfire, river, dripping water and rain. The 6 soft music settings are swan lake music box and 5 soothing piano tunes – all great calming lullabies that will lure both your kids and yourself to sleep. The alarm clock also has its own 5 sounds: Alarm Sound 1, 2 &3, Classic Ringtones 1 & 2, and Piano sounds 1 &2.
The controls are very easy/convenient to use. They are logically arranged into 3 groups: star projector, alarm clock and audio (Bluetooth, music, and white noise). These same functions are also available on the remote, along with an on and off/standby feature.
The speaker also has excellent sound quality for a unit in this price range – great for enjoying nearly every kind of music!
The stand is made of rubber, so it’s very lightweight and flexible, yet sturdy. The main unit fits very well into it. The main unit’s casing is made of a lightweight plastic. Between its light weight and small size, it would fit well into any size luggage if you wish to take it on a trip.
The Doquo 4 in 1 Star Projector would make a great addition to the bedroom of any child or adult. The star/cloud/moon patterns make a great nightlight and can be projected on nearly any wall or ceiling. I have also found the sounds to be very soothing, especially when played in combination with the slowly, gracefully moving clouds. The sounds would also be great for yoga, or simply if you want to unplug and relax after a hectic day.
Please note that the time of day/night appears on the main unit display only. It does not project onto the wall/ceiling. This is not an advertised feature, hence I mention it only because many alarm clocks with projectors will show the current time on both the display and projector, and I’d hate to see anyone get misled or disappointed.
I would just recommend some discretion with young children because the starlight source is a laser. It projects an awesome image, but it could pose a risk to one’s eye if he/she looks directly into the source on top. The unit does have a “Class 1 Laser” safety warning sicker to remind parents and older children to not look directly into the laser light source. Class 1 is the lowest energy level laser, and Class 1 lasers are considered safe under normal conditions of use.
The 4 in 1 Star Projector is available in a black or white case & stand, and it sells for only $39.99 on Amazon ($31.99 for Prime members) – a great value for the price!
